Sometimes the sink you have just doesn’t cut it any longer - maybe it's cracked, maybe you want one with a different look, or maybe it's too small to suit your needs. Or perhaps your undermount sink has come away from the countertop. We can install a new sink or reinstall your undermount sink using your existing plumbing to make your space more functional and aesthetically appealing!

Undermount sinks are common in condos and, unfortunately, sometimes they can separate from the countertop. If an undermount sink drops from the countertop it means that the bond broke down over time. Sometimes this can happen very suddenly.

For us to properly repair or re-glue an undermount sink, we first have to remove the sink. This requires removing the sink cabinet doors or separating the hinges and unhooking the drain plumbing to get the sink out. We prep the underside of the countertop by scraping away the old adhesive using a carbide abrasive to reveal bare stone and then we clean with acetone to get rid of any dirt or contaminants that may affect the new bond. We also remove the adhesive, dirt, etc from the sink flange by scraping and sanding to get a bare metal surface. For porcelain undermount sinks, we prep those similar to the countertop.

Finally, we adhere the sink to the countertop using a specialty adhesive for this application which can hold several hundred pounds once it’s fully cured. To ensure everything cures in the right spot, we install temporary wood supports under the sink that can be easily removed by the client. We recommend that these supports remain in place for 48 hours, but you can start using your sink again about 30 minutes after the repairs are complete. (Although we advise not filling the sink with water or heavy items for the first 48 hours.)
